What’s New at Glastonbury 2024?
This year, Glastonbury 2024 won’t just replay last year’s greatest hits—it’s shaking things up in massive ways. For starters, the Arcadia spider is out. Organizers are unleashing a gigantic dragonfly structure that’s set to light up the sky near the Arcadia field. Expect fire, lasers, and some of the wildest performances as electronic acts transform this centerpiece all weekend. Over at the Block9 area, the much-loved Genosys stage is making its comeback after a long absence, promising late-night energy and underground vibes. Some change isn’t for everyone, though: the quirky party spot The Rabbit Hole has closed for good, shuffling attendees who loved its secret gigs and dance parties elsewhere.
Beyond the venue tweaks, set times are already out. Attendees are swapping spreadsheets and debating clash dilemmas in group chats everywhere, plotting how to get the best out of their tickets. With hundreds of acts spread across dozens of stages, having advance notice is a major win. No more wandering aimlessly or missing your favorite act because you didn’t know when they’d start.
Who’s Playing and When?
The main draw for most is the Pyramid Stage. Dua Lipa gets things going on Friday with her headlining set from 10:00 to 11:45 pm—a late-night dance party in the making if previous performances are anything to go by. Saturday’s slot goes to Coldplay, who’ll headline from 9:45 to 11:45 pm, bringing sing-alongs and no doubt another signature light show. Rounding out the weekend is SZA, taking the stage Sunday night from 9:30 to 11:15 pm. Her set is expected to close out the festival with soulful anthems and some surprises.
You can’t talk Pyramid Stage without the Sunday afternoon ‘Legends Slot’, this year filled by Shania Twain. Picture a field of thousands belting out “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” in the sunshine. A definite core memory for longtime fans. Adjacent to the main lineup, heavy-hitters LCD Soundsystem, Burna Boy, PJ Harvey, and British favorites like Little Simz, Michael Kiwanuka, and Paloma Faith will each have their turn in the spotlight.
The Woodsies stage isn’t holding back either. Jamie xx headlines, and word’s out that Kasabian is back for a surprise set—something bound to draw massive crowds. These stages often become the source of the most legendary festival stories thanks to their mix of big-name musicians and mysterious, under-the-radar acts.
BBC coverage means even those who missed out on tickets won’t have to settle for FOMO. There’ll be live broadcasts, curated highlights, and catch-up options across TV, radio, and BBC digital channels. Whether you’re watching from the comfort of your living room or streaming on your phone, every major set will be just a click away.
From sweeping changes to the festival landscape, a diverse lineup and a packed TV broadcast schedule, Glastonbury 2024 is set to keep both first-timers and festival veterans guessing—and dancing—from start to finish.
